At some point in our lives, we will all be patients. I’ve been one, and I bet you or someone you’re very close to has as well. I titled the newest Lean Out Podcast “Patient” because, for my guest, the word has a double meaning.
Stephanie Moss is a PGY-1 psychiatry resident physician at Rosalind Franklin University. She is also the host of the Life As a Patient Doctor Podcast, which features stories from medical students, trainees and professionals on crucial topics like illness, disability, mental health, sexual health, trauma-informed care, and preserving humanity in medicine. This is a passion project for her because she, too, is a patient with a chronic illness.
The other side of the “patient” meaning comes in when we discuss Stephanie’s inner work to manage this intense time of training with her advocacy projects and her own self-care. She’s going to have to be patient and self-compassionate throughout this season of her life.
We cover important aspects of self-awareness and self-care in this episode, so hopefully you’ll find it helpful and informative!
