How are you of service? Who do you serve?
Service is the foundation of many, if not all, creative endeavors. Even purely artistic works are serving a population by providing beauty and inspiration.
My guest on the most recent Lean Out Podcast is Susan Baumgaertel. Susan is an internal medicine physician who stepped away from primary care after more than 25 years serving her community in many capacities. She pivoted to the online space to start myMDAdvocate, a consultation and medical advocacy business that helps patients navigate the often overwhelming healthcare landscape.
How did she make this pivot? She asked the community she served what they needed and wanted.
Susan’s other passion is helping people find physical and emotional support on the journey toward, into, and beyond menopause. She has just launched a talk show called Voices with Vigor, showcasing guests from diverse backgrounds who share common threads of curiosity, kindness, dedication, and resilience.
In our conversation, Susan shares her journey from traditional primary care to remote advocacy work and content creation. She reminds us to invest in ourselves and our creative endeavors, and she gives us her best advice for navigating transitions of any type.
