It’s easy to rush through life.
It’s easy to assume the identity dictated by our professions without consideration for who we really are.
But it’s hard to have your structure and identity stripped away from you, leaving you wondering…
My guest today on the Lean Out Podcast is Karla Castillo. A back injury forced her to question her busy lifestyle, from which she ultimately switched gears. But the transition wasn’t without strife.
Karla is a Registered Nurse with a Master’s degree in Nursing Education. After working for years as a full-time nurse, Karla started Dominate Nursing, a company dedicated to helping nursing students feel more confident, less overwhelmed, and excited about learning. Karla taps into her love of teaching and her experience as a homeschool mom when she does private tutoring and creates educational videos for her Youtube channel. Karla is a wife, mom to three kids, and hobby farmer with 23 chickens and a dog.
Karla and I know each other personally through homeschooling in our small Utah town. From the moment we met, we shared an immediate connection. In this conversation, we talk about what prompted Karla to leave the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles, how she started a nursing education company after years of working at the bedside, how she navigates the uncertainties of entrepreneurship, and what her typical days look like. (Spoiler: They’re slow and beautiful and fulfilling 🥰).
Have a listen to today’s episode, and tell me…
What values are you living by? Are they yours, or someone else’s?
