I met physician, mom, FIRE enthusiast, and author extraordinaire BC Krygowski years ago, when I became immersed in a community of doctors who care about financial literacy and freedom.
Little-known fact: BC’s family, my family, and Leif’s (aka Physician on FIRE‘s) family were all slated to take a repositioning cruise to China together in Fall 2020, then explore southeast Asia. You can guess the fate of those plans! Regardless, we’ve stayed in touch over the years. She was actually instrumental in getting my book edited and reader-worthy!
BC and I share more than a love of language; we both share the experience of being the “black sheep” in our workplaces. Throughout her medical career, she always had the vision of working part time. She’s definitely not into “all or nothing”, and this is reflected in her journey. In this episode, we discuss:
- How BC “retired early” but then returned to work
- Her new passion for writing, facilitated by pursuing what she calls a “DIY MFA”
- The idea of geo-arbitrage and how it doesn’t just apply to finances but also to work-life balance
- The importance community has had on her professional life, in the form of conferences, organizations, and coaching groups
