When her fourth child turned out to be twins and there were three young children who needed daycare, she knew something had to change. On two salaries (one an attorney at a large law firm), the childcare costs they incurred were not sustainable. At the same time, Harmony Smith felt like she wanted to be more than just a lawyer.
Harmony started blogging online at Creating My Kaleidoscope in 2015. She is a trial attorney and mother of five who has been on a journey out of debt and toward financial independence. She is leaning into homesteading and her love of crochet, and she hopes to have more time for enjoying adventures with her family in the near future.
In this episode, we discuss her evolution from big city attorney to a remote role where she can bill from their country homestead, taking the occasional break to check on the chickens. She shares her tips and practices for maintaining laser focus on a goal of financial independence. We also compare aspects of our respective homesteads on opposite sides of the country.
