In 2005, after spending countless hours working “inefficiently” (in his words) at large law firms, my husband struck out as an independent patent attorney. Taking his few clients, he started his own firm with a vision of a low-overhead, micro-practice model. Over 20 years later, he still practices this way with no regrets.
I’ve seen first-hand the benefits of this “less is more” type of practice. So you can imagine my excitement and intrigue when my most recent podcast guest told me she was doing something similar as a medical subspecialist.
My guest on the most recent Lean Out Podcast is Dr. Mitra Sadhu. Mitra is a Florida nephrologist who designed what she calls a “lean private practice” that helps her work part time in a traditionally busy subspecialty. She shares the components of a lean practice model, what motivates her to work part time, and how she changed her mindset on what a proper medical practice should look like.
