Achievement isn’t all bad. It gives us purpose and direction.
But there is a fine line between healthy achievement and being entrenched on the treadmill.
My most recent guest on the Lean Out Podcast studies and treats high achievers, so we get into the weeds about healthy achievement.
Dimitrios Tsatiris is a practicing board-certified psychiatrist, book author and TEDx speaker who studies and writes about the interface of mental health and achievement. His work has been featured in numerous outlets, including Psychology Today, Doximity, Health.com, KevinMD, The White Coat Investor and Thrive Global among others. An expert in physician wellness, he has worked with hundreds of physicians and is the author of the book Physician Burnout: How to Rise Above a Broken Healthcare System as a Practicing Clinician – a book for which I wrote a blerb.
Dimitrios is passionate about empowering physicians and other achievers to live a fulfilling life by developing a healthy relationship with achievement. In our conversation, Dimitrios shares his own experience with burnout and how he was able to find his unique work-life balance as a result. We also discuss common themes and challenges he sees as a psychiatrist and coach to physicians and high achievers – including anxiety and lack of self-compassion.
