Imagine you’re a hard-driving professional with lofty aspirations for your career.
You meet the love of your life one day.
Only he’s a pilot and he’s heading back home… To France.
My most recent guest on the Lean Out Podcast is Dr. Kelly Katcher. Kelly is a practicing anesthesiologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She’s passionate about travel and ballroom dancing, and she describes herself as a hopeless romantic.
I met Kelly when she was a partner in the group where I do my regular per diem anesthesia job. She seemed very involved in the group and held multiple leadership positions, so when I heard she was leaving to do locum tenens work and move to France, I knew I had to talk to her about WHY.
We discuss Kelly’s long and interesting path through a medical career that she felt was at its pinnacle – only something was missing. She ended up marrying the pilot who lives in France, and they had been doing a long distance relationship for years. Their marriage started to suffer as she worked around the clock, even on her trips to France, to keep up with all her responsibilities.
I’ve talked a lot about redefining success on the show, this blog, my book and my course, but in our conversation, Kelly brought up something unexpected about success:
Your definition of success can change over time, and that’s perfectly ok.
I hope you find Kelly’s story uplifting, romantic, and inspiring!
