“ It’s poking and seeing what was going to jiggle… and trusting and believing in myself and my journey and what my body and my heart was telling me less than my brain.” – Ingrid Yang
What if you looked for the slivers of light and opened the windows/doors accordingly? What if you didn’t worry about being “too old” or it being “too late,” and you went for the reinvention anyway?
My guest on the Lean Out Podcast has lived a wildly meandering journey.
Ingrid Yang MD, JD is a board-certified internal medicine physician, longevity specialist, and yoga teacher who integrates evidence-based medicine with lifestyle and mindfulness practices to optimize healthspan. Ingrid is also the author of multiple books on yoga and meditation, and she leads wellness and longevity retreats worldwide.
Ingrid exudes an infectious positivity, warmth, and yet strong leadership. I met her by attending one of her retreats in Playa del Carmen a few years ago. I was experiencing my own watershed period during that time, and the retreat was just what I needed to focus on what I had right in front of me.
During our conversation, Ingrid shares how she changed careers from law to medicine, how she started her own yoga studio in between, why she left the specialty she went to medical school to practice, and how she balances being a hospitalist with her extensive work in the wellness space.
Certain tools helped Ingrid on her journey: identifying mentors, practicing self-kindness, meditation, and therapy. What are the tools that have helped you on your journey so far? Where would you like to be headed?
