Bad things happen.
But what if uncertainty can open up infinite possibilities?
My guest on the most recent Lean Out Podcast is Leigh Johnson.
Leigh is a Family Physician in rural Tennessee. In addition to her MD, she holds a Master’s degree in Public Health. Leigh describes herself as an Army veteran, a staunch supporter of human rights, an avid exerciser, a self-proclaimed coffee addict, wife to Abraham and mom to two wild boys.
In our conversation, Leigh and I talk about how the abrupt closing of her practice caused Leigh to re-evaluate her work and life direction. She responded with a grace and openness to possibilities that I found very refreshing.
For the past few months, Leigh has spent time on the things that matter most to her: exercising, mothering, catching up with friends, and being there for people she loves when they need a helping hand. She’s always loved to travel, and an opportunity to work in New Zealand recently fell into her lap. She and her family are now prepping to move for a temporary locum tenens position in New Zealand!
Some of the themes we talk about in this episode include finally pulling the trigger on leaving a bad work situation, using uncertainty as a blank slate, returning to your values and the basics of what you want, carrying a healthy emergency fund to navigate unemployment without the stress, and more.
Tell me: If you had the opportunity for a blank slate, what’s the first question you’d ask yourself? Share your thoughts by leaving a comment below!
