You’re likely walking around with the volume turned up to an 8 or 9. Putting out fires at work and at home.
What would work be like if the volume was turned down to a 4 or 5? How about a 2 or 3?
When the volume is turned down on your job, you’re likely to enjoy it much more. I’ve seen this time and time again – in my own life and with my coaching clients.
You think you need to leave medicine to be happy. But once you get into a better schedule, perhaps a reduced FTE, then it’s all much more tolerable. No more need to build up a side hustle and make a dramatic exit from your professional work!
Cobin Soelberg found this out in a roundabout way, and he’s on the Lean Out Podcast to talk about it.
Cobin is an M.D., J.D. who practices anesthesiology part-time in Bend, Oregon. He also serves as an expert witness in medical malpractice cases. Since 2020, he has also run Greeley Wealth Management, a financial planning firm built on a simple premise of a physician working for physicians. Outside of work, Cobin spends as much time as he can in the Cascade Mountains with his wife, Julie, and son, Wes, skiing, mountain biking, and exploring the backroads in their truck.
Due to some health challenges, Cobin found himself forced to drastically reduce his work schedule. Now, he can’t ever see going back to full-time. We talk about this mindset shift, the perils of all-or-nothing thinking, how to get your work organization on board with alternative scheduling arrangements, and much more on financial health!
